Revelation, written by the apostle John, is the New Testament’s one book of prophecy to reveal everyone’s future. It is the final warning that the world will surely end and judgment will be certain. It gives us a tiny glimpse of heaven and all of the glories awaiting those who will go there.
Revelation begins with letters to the seven churches of Asia Minor.
1. Introduction (Rev 1)
2. Messages to the 7 Churches (Rev 2-3)
3. The 7 Seals and the 7 Trumpets (Rev 4-11)
4. The Rise of Antichrist (Rev 12-18)
5. The Return of Jesus Christ (Rev 19:1-20:10)
6. Heaven (Rev 20:11-22:21)
To be continued…..
John wrote Revelation while a prisoner on the Island of Patmos. Its purpose is to give encouragement and hope for all Christians to continue watching for the return and triumph of the Lord Jesus Christ.
In chapters 1-3, John was elderly and imprisoned on the Island of Patmos when he received a vision from an angel. With this vision he was instructed to write to seven churches about what he had seen.
Finally, in chapters 21-22, John describes the New Heaven and the New Earth. In it is the holy city of the New Jerusalem. There will no longer be any crying or tears, pain, mourning, or death.
